Help Spanish-speaking Parents Communicate with their Children's Teachers

by Ann Abbott

It's time again for the parent-teacher conferences at Central High School in Champaign, and they need people who can interpret for the Spanish-speaking families.  Students who work at these events always report that it is a great experience.  I hope that you can help, too.

Read the message below and correspond directly with Ms. Michelle Shmikler to work out a schedule.

"Our parent teacher conferences are on Thursday, March 17 (5 pm till 8 pm) and Friday, March 18 (8 am till noon).  I am hoping we can get some students to translate for our Hispanic families.
"I would be grateful for any help you can give me on getting the word out!  Thanks so much!
